Freestyle

Freestyle is a new sport that has only been really active in the United States for about 10 years.... It actually started 21 years ago at the biggest dog Show in the World, Crufts. Someone asked Mary Ray to perform an Obedience drill to music, before Best in Show and from that Freestyle evolved... Freestyle is a set of behaviors you teach your dog that are choreographed to music....

It is a sport that can be done by any dog or person and is a fun way to bond with your best friend... Some people learn it for their own personal satisfaction and others take it to another level and compete for titles in one of the several organizations that have started across the country... There is a classification for everyone, beginner to Masters..senior and handicapped divisions...singles, pairs, teams and brace...

Each year there is a Freestyle demo at the Hurricane Ridge Kennel All Breed Conformation/Obedience/Rally competition, in July, where the Emerald City K-9 Freestyle Dancers entertain the spectators
